This weekend was so lazy. I loved it.
My first week of substitute teaching was pretty tiring. I have definitely learned to appreciate peace and quiet. My first day was awesome. My teacher had 4 off periods...seriously. I was able to read my book (more on this in a bit), eat my lunch, get a bathroom break (lol) and pick up a job for Friday. Friday was ridiculous. My teacher had a lunch, and one conference period.
Her. Classes. Were. Awful.
I can't complain too much, because I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to earn a paycheck. I read a little more of my book The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. If anyone has read this, I would love to hear your thoughts about it. It is about a girl who can taste the emotions of people through the food they prepare. I thought it sounded strange, but Oprah said it was good, so I thought I would give it a try. I have nearly put it down and quit many times because the way it is written is horrible. The dialogue in the book is not clearly marked, making it hard to follow. For example, if the main character is talking, it looks like this:
Can I help? I asked, spreading out pencils and papers on the vinyl place mats.
Nah, said Mom, whisking the flour and baking soda together.
Nah, said Mom, whisking the flour and baking soda together.
It drives me freakin insane. But I want to know what happens, so I overlook the punctuation mistakes.
Today, I watched the Texans lose by a freak accident. That was kind of a let down.
Today actually felt like Fall. Since I just got a new jacket, I am loving it. I have so many countdowns of exciting things that will be happening.
5 days until Harry Potter comes out.
6 days until I get to meet my new baby cousin.
10 days until Thanksgiving.
40 days until Christmas.
48 days until I am on a plane to Colorado.
Now that I am super excited...I am going to go finish my lemon cake book and call it a night!
